Demographic Factors in the Eduction of Relations in Analogy Picture Pairs.

Abstract

The influence of the demographic factors of sex, race and social class on eduction of relations in picture pairs is examined. This report lists the picture pair items for which frequency of relation eduction differs significantly between males, between whites and nonwhites, and between higher and lower social class groups. These items may be presumed not to be culturally neutral, insofar as sex, race and social class are concerned. Implications of these findings for the further study of analogical reasoning are given.
