Expansion of Port Hueneme, California: Hydraulic Model Investigation.

Abstract

A 1:100-scale model of Port Hueneme Harbor, California, and sufficient offshore area of the Pacific Ocean to permit generation of the required long-period test waves was used to investigate the effects of a proposed expansion of the harbor on mooring conditions and harbor oscillations. The proposed expansion consisted of a 710- by 450-ft extension of the east basin in northeasterly direction. A 56-ft-long wave machine and electrical wave-height measuring and recording apparatus were used in model operation. In addition, results obtained on two mathematical models of harbor oscillation were compared with the hydraulic model test results.
