Five Statistical Tests to Determine the Nature of the Failure Rate: A special RAM Methodology Report

Abstract

Five statistical tests are presented for verifying whether or not the failure rate is constant. Two tests are given to determine if a constant failure rate exists. The other three tests determine whether a constant, increasing, or decreasing failure rate exists. Tables needed for three of the tests are included. Also, a numerical example is presented in which three of the tests are used for comparing results.
