T-6 Digital Autopilot Data Processing Analysis and Specification

Abstract

This report describes the analysis required to specify the computer data processing for a digital autopilot for a small homing missile. The problem of conversion of an analog system to a digital system by state variable methods is examined. Modification of the resulting digital system to maintain system gain and phase margins is accomplished. Data rate and word length effects are studied and the decomposed state variable type formulation is found to be superior to the z-transform based recursive feedback form.
