On the Foundations of the Theory of Non-Linear Viscoelasticity.

Abstract

The implications of various constitutive assumptions of the functional type with respect to material behavior are discussed. The restrictions imposed by invariance of the stress under superposed rigid rotations are introduced. The implications of continuity assumptions on the constitutive functionals with respect to representations of the latter are discussed.
