Far-Infrared Photometer System for Airborne Infrared Astronomy,
Abstract
Laboratory photometric and spectral calibrations were performed for a gallium-doped germanium (Ge:Ga) and epitaxial gallium arsenide (GaAs) photo-conductive detector optimized at 100 and 285 micrometers respectively. They were flown in a photometer system aboard a NASA Lear jet for far-infrared astronomical observations, and a comparison of the sensitivities of the airborne flight measurements was made relative to the laboratory measurements.
