The Potential of a Line Segment.

Abstract

Two different integral transformation methods are described for determining the potential of a straight line segment. The potential is found to be continuous with its derivatives everywhere except at the tips of the needle where the first derivatives behave like the inverse square root of distance from a tip. At infinity the potential behaves like a source or point charge.
