Pancreatic Endocrine Function in Gram-Negative Shock.

Abstract

The authors have carried out a series of studies to evaluate carbohydrate metabolism and insulin dynamics in experimental gram-negative septicemia and to define the underlying mechanisms. In order to avoid the unique splanchnic vascular responses of the dog in shock, the baboon was used as a subhuman primate model.
