Discontinuous Magnetofluidynamic Flows.

Abstract

Investigations of Magnetofluidynamic flows with shock waves have been carried-out by analytical numerical and graphical methods, with a simple experiment added to demonstrate an anlogy between plasma and magnetohydraulic flows. Solutions are given for flows around bodies and in given regions of the type prevalent in space research and technology, in hypersonic flight, where the fluid adjacent to the craft gets ionized, and in plasma configurations considered for thermonuclear fission, e.g. theta - pinches, the Tokomak. The conducting-liquid analysis and experiments are applicable to MHD pumps and motors and to the liquid-sochium cooling system for atomic breeder-reactors.
