Missile Site Radar (MSR) - Upgrading Program. Volume IV. Acoustic Velocity Correlator.

Abstract

The object of the program is to determine the feasibility of implementing the velocity correlator network of a Pulse Burst Processor System using acoustic surface waves. The acoustic velocity correlator is a network of multiple tapped delay lines which corrects the Doppler time shifts of the output signals from a pulse burst correlator tapped delay line and sums the corrected signals in a single Doppler velocity channel. A 20 MHz bandwidth prototype device was developed during the first phase of the program. The goal of the current phase is to produce a 50 MHz design with improved performance. This report describes the development of improved velocity correlator equivalent circuit models which will be used to design the broadband prototypes. The accuracy of the models is validated by comparison on computed and measured data from the 20 MHz prototype device.
