Oxygen Electrode Kinetics on Various Electrode Surfaces.

Abstract

The results of research on the kinetics of oxygen reduction are presented for various carbon and graphite surfaces and gold. The reduction on these surfaces proceeds through only the peroxide mechanism. This kinetic data provide a quantitative insight into the operation of fuel cell O2 cathodes involving these catalytic surfaces. Promising directions for improving catalytic activity and performance are suggested.
