Engineer Design Tests of Dow Truss Web Landing Mats with Waterproofable Connectors and Seals.

Abstract

Dow truss web waterproofable landing mat was tested without seals under a 50,000-lb single-wheel load (SWL) with 250-psi tire inflation pressure on a four-CBR subgrade to determine its life in coverages. The panels were placed at a rate of 822 sq ft per man-hour. The full and half panels sustained 1440 coverages of the above loading on a four-CBR subgrade. A limited number of mats with seals were tested to evaluate the effectiveness of the seal using a C-5A loading (26,600-lb SWL with 100-psi tire inflation pressure) on a 12-CBR subgrade during a two-month period while natural and simulated rainfall of over 10 in. was recorded.
