Window Contoured Glass/Plastic Transparent Armor for the UH-1D Helicopter

Abstract

The objectives of this program relate to the design of a transparent armor installation for the UH-1D helicopter. This effort incorporated for the first time significant amounts of high performance glass/plastic laminate armor in an aircraft. Eight shipsets of armor were produced, one of which was installed and flight tested. Environmental testing was also conducted to define armor performance and characteristics.
