Optimal Control of a Helicopter Turret Control System.

Abstract

The optimal control of a XM-97 helicopter turret control system is considered. An optimal tracking controller using a quadratic performance index has been developed for the turret. The step responses of both the optimal turret and the existing turret (designed under the classical servomechanism technique) are studied by numerical simulations. It is found that the optimal controller performs much more satisfactorily than the existing controller.
