Develop Magnetic Coil Design and Manufacturing Capability.
Abstract
This project describes how the theory, design, and manufacturing knowledge have been acquired and used to develop an 'in-house' capability for the fabrication of magnetic forming coils. The major sub-tasks of familiarization, equipment and material acquisition, and development work are described. Four expansion coil descriptions are given, together with manufacturing and testing procedures. A typical air-cooled, electromagnetic expansion coil is illustrated, together with a sequential description of fabrication.
