Further Development of a 3-7 Day Typhoon Analog Forecast Model for the Western North Pacific.

Abstract

The report presents the results of an investigation of typhoon movement forecasting techniques by computer. The study was accomplished in three phases: Upgrading the former data base of the existing forecast model; extending the forecast to seven days, and incorporation of 500-mb long-wave patterns for predetermination of forecast track. Recommendations regarding findings are included as part of the text.
