Overhaul Factor Forecasting

Abstract

Results from a study of techniques for forecasting overhaul factors are reported. Techniques evaluated include cumulative history, moving average, and single and adaptive exponential smoothing. A modified version of the exponential smoothing technique produced the best results. The study was based on data reported over a five year period on overhaul programs on 53 reparable items involving 8614 repair parts.
