A Process Controller for A Hierarchical Process Structured Operating System.

Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to report the design and implementation of a process controller which would allow the concurrent execution of real-time, timesharing, and batch processes. The design was to be compatable with the UNIX multiprogramming timeshared system and run on the PDP 11/50 computer. A summary of the documentation of UNIX, which was a prerequisite to design, is presented as a prelude to the design. The design and criteria for choosing it are also presented, followed by the implementation and related problems. Finally, conclusions drawn and suggested improvements of the final product are discussed. (Author)
