Abstract

The objective of the current study is to improve instruction, especially instruction of adults who come to the instructional situation with varying degrees of relevant background and information. The practical problem is how to interface the instructional materials and their presentation with the skills and knowledge that the learner brings with him to the task. The research program attempts to supply some of the basic research that will help to answer such practical questions.
