A Method for Increasing the Training Effectiveness of Marine Corps Tactical Exercises: A Pilot Study.

Abstract

Methods for better utilizing current and to-be-developed simulated combat systems for training officers are required by the Marine Corps to ensure efficient acquisition of combat decision-making skills at battalion and higher levels of command. In support of this requirement, a review and analysis of several combat training systems helped to identify a set of major training problems. A method aimed at solving these problems and thus increasing the training effectiveness of Marine Corps tactical exercises was formulated and experimentally applied. Results obtained seem promising enough to warrant further development of this training method. (Author)
