Basic Remote Sensing Investigations for Beach Reconnaissance.

Abstract

Progress is reported on three tasks designed to develop remote sensing beach reconnaissance techniques applicable to the benthic, beach intertidal, and beach upland zones. Task 1 is designed to develop remote sensing indicators of important beach composition and physical parameters which will ultimately prove useful in models to predict beach conditions. Task 2 is designed to develop remote sensing techniques for survey of bottom features in the benthic zone. Task 3 is designed to develop radar processing techniques to delineate important beach intertidal and upland parameters and to better understand the potential of radar-derived information when used with optical sensor data.
