Handbook of Operating and Maintenance Instructions for Earth Parameter Measurement Test Set (EPMTS).

Abstract

The Earth Parameter Measurement Test Set (EPMTS) is a system for measuring the dielectric constant and conductivity of the earth by measuring the effect of these parameters on a parallel wire transmission line placed close to the earth. The system automatically measures the resonant frequency where the length of the line is wavelength/4, and the input impedance of the probe and by suitable calibration charts, the conductivity and dielectric constant may be measured.
