Current Density and Space Potential in Plasmas.

Abstract

A model that describes the operation of a magnetically confined, hollow cathode arc discharge has been developed. This model will be used to design a high current arc facility suitable for the development of plasma current density techniques using an ion beam probe. Improved electrostatic energy analyzers for use with ion beam probing have been developed. The new analyzers provide better frequency response and permit the evaluation of the position and velocity displacement produced by the plasma current.
