An Ionospheric Substorm Model,

Abstract

An ionospheric substorm model is presented in schematic form for the nightside. The purpose of the model is to provide a basis for identifying in DMSP photos the different phases of an ionospheric substorm and to estimate how some associated ionospheric parameters would vary during the substorm.
