Hydraulic Control Handle/Elevation Axis Closed-Loop System Evaluation (Fluidic Armament Control System).

Abstract

The investigation of Fluidic Armament Control System (FACS) mechanizations for combat vehicle stabilized-gun/turret-control system applications was initiated in 1968 based on the need for developing low-cost systems. The accomplishments in this program result from effort, conducted on three limited-scope contracts over the 1968-1974 time frame, to demonstrate for the first time the closed-loop operation of an all-fluidic stabilized gun tracking system. A laboratory demonstration was conducted of an elevation axis system.
