A Study of the Fine Structure, Thermomechanical and Chemical Properties of Photo-pyroceramics Containing Beryllium,

Abstract

This article discusses research on adding beryllium to light-sensitive glass and photo-pyroceramics. Crystalline structure was studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. Microhardness and microdeformation were studied in relation to varying quantities of beryllium. Results showed that there is a connection between beryllium content and fine structure and thermomechanical properties of photo-pyroceramics. The addition of BeO stabilizes thermal expansion by preventing structure transformation of various forms of silica.
