Flow Generation Properties of Five Transonic Wind Tunnel Test Section Wall Configurations

Abstract

Tests were conducted in the Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel (1T) of the Propulsion Wind Tunnel Facility to determine the tunnel calibration and centerline Mach number distribution for five transonic wall configurations. Data were also obtained with a cone-cylinder model to determine the effects of model blockage on the free-stream Mach number development in the test section. During the test, the Mach number was varied from 0.6 to 1.3. The wall porosity was varied to obtain data at representative values for each wall configuration. This report presents the test results and provides data to guide the operation of Tunnel 1T with the five transonic wall configurations. (Author)
