Investigation of 2nd Generation Modular Flir Signal Processing/Display Technologies.

Abstract

The primary purpose of this report is to identify specific areas of signal processing and display techniques where advanced concepts might be used to improve the performance of the next generation of FLIR systems. To accomplish this objective it was necessary to first of all define the general signal processing and display techniques used in the current generation of FLIR systems, then to identify the particular shortcomings of these systems based upon a postulated set of design rules, and then to propose specific areas of improvement to overcome the identified shortcomings of the current generation. Based upon these findings, recommendations are made for further development efforts in specific areas of advanced signal processing and display techniques.
