Skin Hypersensitivity of Guinea Pigs with Plague Immunity to Different Pestin PP Fractions,

Abstract

The effectiveness of pestin PP and its components, obtained with Sephadex G-50, has been compared to detect the skin hypersensitivity response in guinea pigs given one immunizing dose of live P. pestis YeV or infected by a virulent strain after vaccination. Component I (the polypeptide-polysaccharide complex) and its fragment Ia, having the specificity of the basic somatic antigen, caused the most demonstrative cutaneous response.
