Multichannel Queueing Systems with Heterogeneous Classes of Arrivals.

Abstract

DCEC engineering analyses indicate that the future Defense Communications System might be an integrated telecommunications network in which network voice and data would compete for use of the same transmission facilities. This Technical Note gives a complete analysis of the most fundamental operating rule for such a system. Different arrival and service rates for voice and data are used to develop analytic expressions for the blocking probability for voice and average delay for data. Furthermore, simple approximations for these system performance measures are given. (Author)
