Optoelectronic Devices Packaged for Fiber Optics Application. Volume II.
Abstract
The work was devoted to the development of fixtures and techniques for positioning and soldering the optoelectronic components into the termination assembly hardware. The termination assembly hardware was designed to insure proper positioning of the fiber optic terminating ferrule relative to the optoelectronic components, to constrain the terminating ferrule, to insure reliable optical coupling, and to provide adequate thermal dissipation for the LED. The termination assembly hardware is also compatible with standard military avionics connector systems. Using this hardware it is possible to mix power cables, coax cables, and fiber optic data lines in the same connector and wire harness.
