Identification of Service Irritants: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom and United States,
Abstract
A review of research on service irritants cited by military servicemen in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, and United States revealed an outstanding degree of similarity in responses. Certain factors such as inadequate pay, domestic problems associated with military life, change of station, and military rules and regulations were universally mentioned as negative aspects of a military career. The effect of these irritants on enlistment motivation, job satisfaction, and retention were discussed.
