Microprocessors and Microcomputers,

Abstract

An overview of the latest microprocessor and microcomputer products is presented. Microprocessors are in fact the central processing unit portion of a computer on a chip. A microprocessor chip or chips together with memory chips and input-output chips qualify as a microcomputer and are available today on a single printed circuit board. The architectural features and the microelectronic technologies used to implement these devices are covered. The microprocessor survey includes 18 devices, and the microcomputer survey has 28 machines. The kinds of software needed to program them and some future trends for these products are discussed.
