Measurement of NC-8A and MMG-1A Distortion Spectrums.

Abstract

AC and DC distortion spectrum measurements were made on an NC-8A and an MMG-1A Mobile Electric Power Plant. The results were plotted and compared with the distortion spectrum limits of MIL-STD-704B. Conclusions are reached and recommendations are made based on the results obtained. The NC-8A is a mobile, driver operable, self-propelled, self-contained, electric power plant utilized for servicing and/or starting rotary and fixed wing aircraft. The primary source of power is a Diesel Engine with a rating of 118 brake horsepower at 2400 RPM. The MEPP is designed to produce 60 KVA at 400 Hz, 120/128 volt AC power and 500 amperes at 28 volts DC continuous or 750 amperes (Current limited) intermittent power. Both AC and DC power may be supplied simultaneously for loads up to 48 KW.
