Reformulation of the Plasma Inverse Scattering Problem.

Abstract

The one-dimensional problem of determining the density of a plasma from the reflection of electromagnetic waves has been solved by the Gel'fand-Levitan technique. Here their integral equation is modified and simplified. Laplace transformation gives a simple functional equation, and the asymptotic form of its solution yields the plasma density.
