An Instrument Which Measures Directly the Radon Emanation Rate from a Mine Wall.

Abstract

A portable instrument which measures directly the radon emanation rate from a mine wall has been developed. The prototype instrument is a gas proportional detector with provisions for prevention of contamination of the instrument by radon daughters. A radon collecting device, which is attached to the mine wall, is used in conjunction with the radon measuring instrument to measure directly the radon emanation rate from a mine wall. Operating and maintenance instructions are given in sufficient detail to enable the user to operate and maintain the instrument.
