Advanced Developmennt, XM-742 Soft RAG Projectile

Abstract

This report covers work carried out on the Advanced Development Phase of a non-hazardous ring airfoil grenade (RAG) projectile. The feasibility of the RAG projectile was proven by Edgewood Arsenal and carried through the experimental development phase by Remington Arms Company, Incorporated. The Ring Airfoil Grenade (RAG) shape has aerodynamic properties which provide a relatively stable low trajectory flight. When made of a soft material and filled with a riot control agent, it is capable of providing a long-range delivery method that is kinetically non-hazardous. This report describes the work which was carried out at Remington Arms Company, Inc., from May 15, 1974 to February 28, 1975, to develop prototype production equipment.
