Humidity Effects on Properties of Structural Particleboards from Forest Residues.

Abstract

The effects of exposure to various humidities on particleboard properties are important factors to be considered when using basic engineering data in developing design stresses for efficient structural application. It is necessary to determine these effects to avoid possible problems related to loss in load-carrying capacity and stiffness where high humidity exposure is likely. In this study, bending, tension, compression, and shear properties at five different humidity exposures are reported for three structural particleboard types made from Douglas-fir forest residues.
