Hierarchical Integration of Planning and Control.

Abstract

This report suggests a complete and consistent set of models for hierarchical planning. Although the detailed scheduling environment specifically dealt with in the paper is the closed flow shop, the methodology developed is general and applicable to any intermittent production process as well as to many service institutions. In the development of the overall planning method the author gives several new algorithms and formulations for solving specific parts of the overall problem.
