Development of Engineering Data on the Mechanical and Physical Properties of Advanced Composites Materials

Abstract

The development of engineering data for advanced composite materials is an important step in the development of new improved hardware for future aerospace applications. Basic data on the effect of various environmental variables on the physical, thermal and mechanical properties of selected resin matrix and metal matrix materials are presented. The three resin matrix materials systems are boron/Avco 5505, Modmor II graphite/Narmco 5206 and Courtaulds HMS Graphite/Hercules 3002M SYSTEMS. The resin matrix system were procured in the form of prepreg tapes and specimens were fabricated. (Author, Modified-PL)
