Preliminary Hazard Evaluation of Candidate Insect Repellent AI3-36438-Ga, USDA Proprietary Compound.

Abstract

A hazard evaluation of the candidate insect repellent USDA Proprietary Compound AI3-36438-Ga, was performed by means of laboratory animal studies using New Zealand White rabbits. Slight corneal opacity, iritis and conjunctivitis were observed after a single application of the technical grade compound to the eyes of rabbits. Moderate primary skin irritation was seen with a single application of the technical grade material to the occluded skin of rabbits. A more severe irritation was observed with the application of the compound to the unoccluded skin of rabbits.
