SENDS Escape Alert System Development Program. Phase II - Aircraft/Aircrew Analysis. Phase III - Aircraft Computer Program.

Abstract

The SENDS system is designed to provide the aircrewman with a continuous indication of inflight escape capability. The concept, as conceived by VSD, monitors the aircraft dynamic correlation by means of onboard sensors, provides these data to an onboard computer which computes escape capability in accordance with NATOPS manual criteria, and then displays the current status in terms of time remaining to indicate an ejection and still be within the safe recovery envelope of the escape system.
