Adaptive Optimum Array Tracking Detectors.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to measure the performance degradation of array processors due to incorrect spatial a priori knowledge, and to further the theory of signal detectability for dynamic signals received by an array of sensors. Two classes of signal waveforms are considered in the first part of this report; one is the known waveform signal, the other is the Gaussian signal. For the known waveform case, an explicit functional form can be derived for the detectability index to characterize the performance loss. Performance results are shown for both the incorrect assumption about the signal location as well as the incorrect assumption about the directional noise location.
