Collocation for Systems of Ordinary Differential Equations.

Abstract

C. de Boor and B. Swartz have shown that by using C sup (M-1) piecewise polynomials of order k + m the C sup (M+2k) solution of an m-th order non-linear differential equation can be approximated to within O(absolute value/delta/sup(k+m)) globally and O (absolute value/delta/sup 2k) at the knots by collocation at Gaussian points. An extension of their results to systems of nonlinear equations is given.
