Detente and the Eastern Mediterranean.

Abstract

This memorandum examines the concept of detente and its application to the eastern Mediterranean environment, emphasizing the period since 1961. In addition, it analyzes the implications for detente in the projected environment of the region through 1985. The focus of the memorandum is on the Balkans, to include Turkey, Cyprus, and peripheral areas of the eastern basin.
