Hardware and Software Error Correction Coding.
Abstract
This report describes the results of a two phase project. In the first phase, a hardware coding system, which uses two newly developed decoding concepts, was designed and constructed. In the second phase, a software coding system was implemented. Several tradeoffs among alternative software implementations are given. The choice between hardware and software approaches is also considered.
