Protein Chemistry of Necrotic Wounds,

Abstract

Using a newly developed assay procedure for Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), the authors have shown that thymus from immunologically sophisticated animals contains MIF and other lymphokines. The authors have isolated and completely purified MIF from thymus and have in large part characterized this macromolecule chemically and biologically. A new lymphokine, 'lymphotactin,' has been discovered which is specifically chemotactic for lymphocytes. The authors have also isolated skin reactive factor, which is cathepsin D.
