Inertial Positioning System Test Data Summary Report.

Abstract

The report presents the results of the Acceptance Tests conducted on the Inertial Positioning System (IPS). Included in this report is a system error analysis for comparison with the specification requirements. As the tests progressed, problems associated with elevation accuracies were resolved. As a result, the elevation accuracies achieved during the latter part of the Field Acceptance Tests were excellent. A total of 10 missions was performed over a government-selected and established course in Southern California. The IPS fulfilled the contractual requirements with the exception of the azimuth accuracy specification using azimuth update and the ambient temperature requirements above 115F, where azimuth drift was excessive.
