A Survey of Flash Photolysis, Energy Distributions and Nitrous Oxide Photochemistry.

Abstract

This report describes work in the areas of flash photolysis and kinetic spectroscopy as it relates to a measurement and description of the distribution of reaction energies in the molecular products of exothermic chemical reactions. A brief review of experimental and theoretical methods of describing product energy distributions is given. This review includes a somewhat detailed discussion of the technique of flash photolysis. The photochemistry of nitrous oxide and nitrous oxide reactions with 0(singlet D state) are discussed.
