Weak Burning of a Liquid Fuel Drop.

Abstract

The burning of a spherical fuel drop immersed in an oxidizer is considered in the neighborhood of the frozen limit. When the vaporization rate differs from the frozen value of 0(theta(-1)), where theta is a measure of the large activation energy, a near frozen description is obtained which includes the ignition point. This uncovers a simple criterion for distinguishing those situations for which autoignition must occur, from those for which the burning rate varies smoothly with pressure.
